Valentine’s Day in East End

ForthatNav_Neighborhood-4

Whether you’re a couple that prefers spending a quiet night at home, or a twosome that’s itching to enjoy a Valentine’s Day out and about, there are plenty of East End options for a romantic and memorable celebration.

Start the day off right

Skip the mess of breakfast in bed and treat your partner to some of the city’s best coffee and breakfast treats instead. Giant Leap Coffee serves up premium coffee and offers amazing pastries from Tlahuac HTX, like flaky poptarts, horchata berlinesas, and the Romero Roll, a rosemary butter roll with lemon zest icing.

Picnic at Buffalo Bayou Park

For a lowkey option that offers plenty of social distancing, a picnic is a perfect way to share time with your loved one and enjoy the great outdoors. Pick up some East End favorites to pack up, like bottled specialty coffees from Xela Roasters, Italian sandwiches from Mandola’s Deli, or tortas from Doña Tere.

Explore East End community art

Why not spend a day discovering gems in the neighborhood’s evolving art scene? Best of all, no tickets are required, and all of the exhibits are outdoors. Make it an adventure and follow a mural map for a self-guided tour. Plan ahead and you can make a whole day of it, stopping for a quick bite or an evening drink on the patio of nearby bars and restaurants.

Dine Out or Order In and Support an East End Legendary Restaurant

It’s hard to go wrong with margaritas, especially when they’re made at one of the city’s most iconic restaurants. Whether you make reservations to dine in, or opt to place a to-go order to enjoy at home, treat your valentine (and yourself) to the Original Ninfa’s on Navigation’s trademark fajitas or check out the Valentine’s Day specials.

Find comic relief at Warehouse Live

When dinner and movie just won’t cut it, head to the 8th annual Valentine’s Battle of the Sexes Comedy show at Warehouse Live. Six local standup comedians will keep you and your date laughing in the socially distanced venue.

Enjoy a nightcap and bring your furry friend

Couples ready to enjoy some time away from their homes will appreciate the giant patio at East End Backyard, where the 16,000-square-foot patio and 3,500-square-foot dog park are accompanied by 25 beers on tap in addition to a full selection of ciders, seltzers and house cocktails plus a rotating selection of food trucks.
